Live Bin Systems & Reception Bunkers


CTM design a whole range of bespoke reception bunkers for a variety of materials.

All of these bunkers hoppers and silos are tailor made to suit the individual application usually associated with pit depth (limited by such things as water table) and size of lorry being used to load into the bunkers and of course – the storage requirements of the bunker.

They can be supplied with an integral hydraulically actuated lid that will open to receive then close to contain odours or open topped if they are situated within an odour controlled building or with a roller shutter door and local enclosure over the top.

They are all supplied with their own supporting structures and are complete with either stairways or ladders to access any roof mounted equipment such odour connections, hydraulic power packs or level controls etc.

The size of the bunker is designed with the material characteristics in mind, have an allowable freeboard to give enough ullage to create the necessary amount of volumetric storage space and can accommodate the dynamic dimensions of the trailer as it tips its contents into the bin.

They are designed to take the sudden kinetic impact from potentially 30 Tonnes of material falling from height into the bunker and robustly constructed to withstand these high forces.

They can be from mild steel painted or stainless steel if the environmental conditions dictate.

Various discharge systems can be fitted to the base of the storage system in the form of multiple screw live bottom bin or hydraulic push floors that can in turn either discharge straight to multiple pumps or multiple elevating or horizontal screws for onward transportation on to the next phase of the process.

CTM Systems have supplied units form as small as 5 Tonnes storage up to 60 Tonnes in a single bunker – their function to receive a batch load and usually discharge as quickly as possible to a much larger buffer hopper or silo so they can quickly be ready to receive the next load.
